Your child's birthday is just around the corner. It's time to send out the invitations and prepare the activities. But when you live in an apartment, it's easy to get bogged down! Do it outside? At the park, depending on the weather. In an amusement park offering a turnkey birthday party? That depends on your budget. There are activities for all ages. But which ones? Here are three ideas for children's birthdays you can organize in your own apartment.
#1- The birthday show: a place for artists
What if the children were to become stars of showbiz, circus, cinema or cabaret? The advantage of a show birthday is that you can combine several activities around a single theme:
- dancing and singing (even in canon, and even out of tune!)
- perform magic tricks ;
- creating puppets ;
- dressing up and putting on make-up...
For circus lions and tigers, we suggest you use the Namaki Box Vie Sauvage. And for Mr Loyal's moustache, a dash of fine pencil. You can also use our range of children's make-up to shine like the celebrities of Danse avec les Stars: eye shadow, glossOnce the candles have been blown out and the cake eaten, all the artists are ready to present the show and end the birthday party to thunderous applause.
💡 Evolve the activity according to age. Suggest that children take up a simple choreography: from Patrol or Jerusalema's Pop Pop Boogie to a hip hop battle for teens. On the singing side, younger children will be delighted to sing their favorite cartoon title. With the older kids, get out the microphones for some karaoke on the best hits of the moment. Organize a contest and have the audience vote by applause meter!
#2- Creative workshop
The ultimate anti-agitation solution! To keep the children calm and occupied, suggest they create a memento of their special day. Jewelry, accessories, decorations - choose something in keeping with the birthday theme. For the little ones, stick to something quick and easy: coloring pages, pearl necklaces, paper flowers... By laminating a drawing, you'll get a superb placemat. For bigger kids, think about customizing textiles (tote bag, t-shirt...). You can also draw a mask and ask your neighbor to reproduce it on his or her face. Thanks to water-based blushes and both sizes of pencil from Namaki, children have everything they need to trace, fill and decorate.
💡 With 8-12 year-olds, you can blindfold the make-up artist and compare the result with the original model. Will he be able to reproduce the model faithfully?
#3- The mystery of the apartment
You can also offer a thrilling adventure in an apartment! Depending on the age of your guests, it can take the form of a treasure huntor an escape game. Once again, let your creativity flow and imagine:
- riddles and clues to decode ;
- challenges and obstacle courses;
- pledges and rewards.
💡 Decorate a shoebox and fill it with glittering candies, chocolate coins, little pearl jewels, medals. Sketches, rebus, charades, riddles, crosswords, anagrams, puzzles - anything is possible to lead adventurers to the treasure hideout. Unless it's a false trail...
A few tips for a successful birthday, even in an apartment
Zen, let's stay zen
As parents, we often put a lot of pressure on ourselves to make this annual event unforgettable (so much so that we remember the headache and stress of preparation). To make the most of these few hours, remember to :
- Ask guests to confirm their attendance early enough to be able to choose activities according to the number of participants.
- Prepare the necessary materials in advance ( sheets, felt pens, disguises, make-up... )
- Leave some free time for the children to play together in a different way (while you set up the snack, for example).
- Choose activities that are easy to understand AND explain!
As much fun inside as out
Some outdoor play activities are just as feasible indoors. Have you thought about this? Of course, duck-fishing requires a protected floor, but why not? For younger children, games such as rounders, blind man's bluff and 1-2-3 sunshine are perfectly feasible in your living room.
💡 To create an indoor obstacle course, use cushions to step over, a broom placed on two stools to crawl under, three steps ( staircase or small stepladder ) to climb, chairs to slalom between, a bell to ring at the finish. Time it: the fastest wins!
Ideas aside, keep in mind that the most important thing for children is to get together with their friends, have fun and eat sweets and cake. Did you like any of these ideas? Let us know!
